Well, Jess is packed and ready to go (almost!). My friend's sister createda blog to keep in touch with her daughter and the other students that just left for Australia. I figured we could do the same thing! Fee free to post anything, anytime!
This is a fantastic idea. Hopefully we can send some amazing pictures so all can see. Many of our hotels have computer access.
I hope all the delegates are excited because they are in for a trip of their life. I have seen many of the places, but there is always more to see the second time around.
See you all on Thursday!!! Can't wait!! Remember bus leaves at 9:30.
Hi there - Thank you for setting this up! Michelle is ready except for her fun stuff - ipod, book, etc. See you all at 9am, much better than 1:30am. Cara Kennedy
We did a last minute check of the packing situation last night and of course found a few last minute items we still need! Off to the mall AGAIN! Jess is packing pretty light, but it is still pretty hard to keep the suitcase under 44 lbs.!
Thanks for setting this blog spot up for us. This will be new to me. Alex is very excited and I wish everyone a safe and wonderful journey through Europe. I can't wait to hear about it
Yes, so far the only kids that I know were on the second flight are Jess, James (Baker), Chelsea (Callahan) and Erin (Hilliker). If I hear from Jess, I will try and get a list of names of who is with her.
Rachel was in that group. Sorry for the bad news: With all of the delays they had to take less than ideal accomodations last night. She tells me that they stayed in a cheap hotel, in a seedy part of NJ, with malfunctioning air conditioning (after being picked up one hour later than told, 11:30pm, two shifts to get the students to the hotel). After sweating all night, tossing and turning, she called me from the bus freezing because air conditioning was blasting, and the driver would only turn it down for a few minutes. They had to take a bus to Washington, and have missed the Delegate breakfast. Not a great start for these 15.
I spoke to Jess around 11:30am.The second group had made it to DC and was sitting on the bus that drives them around DC waiting for the the rest of the kids. She said the bus from Jersey City smelled funny, the bathroom was gross and the driver was annoying! Other than that, they are in good spirits, just very tired.
Just wanted to give you all a heads up. We are all together and we are happy about that. We went to Lincoln Memorial, FDR memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the capital and the air and space museum. Everyone is having a great time. Now that the weather has cleared and Ruth's group has finally made it here. Today we are going to the Holocaust Museum, the Arlington cemetary, and the Vieatnam Memorial. We are taking off to Greece, and will write when we get there, as well as call.
